2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza Arrives With Turbo Power and More Safety as Competition Heats Up

Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the 2026 Brezza, giving one of India’s best-selling compact SUVs its biggest update in recent years.

Priced from ₹7.40 lakh (ex-showroom), the refreshed model arrives as competition in the sub-four-metre SUV segment becomes more intense, with carmakers racing to offer more technology, stronger safety credentials and better performance without pushing prices significantly higher.

Rather than completely redesigning the Brezza, Maruti has focused on addressing areas where buyer expectations have changed.

Customers in this segment are increasingly looking beyond mileage, expecting modern infotainment systems, advanced safety features and refined driving performance even in entry-level variants. The latest update reflects how rapidly the compact SUV market is evolving.

Among the biggest changes is the introduction of a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine, joining the existing petrol and CNG powertrains. Maruti says the turbo variant delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 20.47 kmpl, while the CNG version continues to target cost-conscious buyers with a claimed 26.90 km/kg.

Inside, the Brezza receives a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, Alexa connectivity and a redesigned cabin aimed at improving the overall ownership experience.

These additions come as features once reserved for premium SUVs have steadily become expected in the compact segment.

Safety has also taken centre stage in the update. The 2026 Brezza now comes with six airbags as standard, while higher variants add features such as blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and front parking sensors.

The move reflects a wider shift across the Indian auto industry, where manufacturers are placing greater emphasis on occupant protection as both regulations and consumer awareness continue to evolve.

The launch comes at a time when rivals including the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet have all raised the bar with frequent updates. Instead of chasing dramatic styling changes, Maruti appears to have focused on strengthening the Brezza’s core appeal balancing practicality, efficiency and modern features in one of the country’s most competitive vehicle segments.

For the broader market, the updated Brezza signals how quickly India’s compact SUVs are changing.

Features such as larger infotainment displays, six airbags and connected technology are no longer premium extras but are increasingly becoming standard expectations among buyers. Manufacturers that fail to keep pace risk losing ground in a segment that remains one of the fastest-growing in the country.

Bookings for the 2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza have opened across India, with deliveries expected to begin in the coming weeks.
