Privacy Policy

Effective Date: July 31, 2026
Last Updated: July 31, 2026

The Bodu (“we,” “us,” “our,” or “the Site,” accessible at thebodu.com) is an independent digital news and media platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you visit our website. We are committed to transparency about our current practices and about features we may introduce in the future.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy applies to all visitors of thebodu.com. By using our Site, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please discontinue use of the Site.

We may update this policy from time to time, particularly as we introduce new features such as advertising, cookies, or affiliate partnerships (see Section 9). Any material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last Updated” date above.

2. Information We Currently Collect

We do not currently run advertising through Google AdSense or any third-party ad network, and we do not currently participate in affiliate marketing programs or use affiliate tracking links.

We do currently use the following, each described in more detail below: a contact form, a newsletter subscription, and Google Analytics.

  • Contact Form: When you submit our contact form, we collect the information you provide — typically your name, email address, and message content — in order to respond to your inquiry. This information is sent to us (editor@thebodu.com / reach@thebodu.com) and is not used for any other purpose.
  • Newsletter Subscription: If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address (and any other information the subscription form requests) in order to send you updates from The Bodu. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link provided in every newsletter email, or by contacting us directly.
  • Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our Site (e.g., pages visited, time on site, general location, device/browser type). Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect this information. Data is processed by Google in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by managing cookie preferences in your browser.
  • Basic server log data, which our web hosting provider (Hostinger) may automatically collect for security and technical operation of the Site, such as IP address, browser type, and access timestamps. This is standard hosting-level data and is not used by us for advertising purposes.

Because Google Analytics uses cookies, this Site is not currently cookie-free. See Section 9.2 for how we handle cookie disclosures going forward.

3. How We Use Information

Any information you voluntarily provide (such as through a contact form or email) is used solely to:

  • Respond to your inquiries
  • Communicate about editorial, advertising, or partnership matters
  • Improve our content and services

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties.

4. Third-Party Links

The Bodu may include links to external websites, articles, or sources referenced in our news content. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party websites. We encourage readers to review the privacy policies of any external site they visit.

5. Children’s Privacy

The Bodu is a general-audience news platform and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at editor@thebodu.com so we can address it.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect any information submitted to us. Our Site is hosted on Hostinger’s infrastructure, which provides industry-standard security protections. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding personal data, including the right to:

  • Request access to information we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of your information
  • Object to or restrict certain processing

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at reach@thebodu.com.

8. International Users

The Bodu is accessible globally. By using the Site, you understand that any information you provide may be processed in India, where our operations are based, or by our hosting provider’s infrastructure, which may be located in other jurisdictions.

9. Future Features — Advance Notice

We want to be transparent that The Bodu may, in the future, introduce the following features as the platform grows. This section describes how this Privacy Policy will apply once (and if) these features are activated. We will update this policy and post a clear notice on the Site before any of the following go live:

9.1 Google AdSense / Third-Party Advertising

We may in the future display advertisements through Google AdSense or similar ad networks. If activated:

  • Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites.
  • You will be able to opt out of personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info.
  • This policy will be updated with specific details on data collected, retention, and opt-out mechanisms before AdSense is enabled.
9.2 Cookies

We currently use cookies through Google Analytics (see Section 2). We may in the future expand cookie use to:

  • Remember user preferences
  • Support advertising features described above (e.g., Google AdSense)

As we expand cookie use, we will display a cookie consent banner where required by law and provide a mechanism for you to accept, reject, or manage cookie preferences. A dedicated Cookie Policy will be published at that time.

9.3 Affiliate Links

We may in the future include affiliate links (e.g., through Amazon Associates or similar programs) in our content, particularly in gadget, product, or review-related articles. If this feature is activated:

  • We will disclose affiliate relationships clearly within relevant articles.
  • Clicking an affiliate link may result in a small commission to The Bodu at no extra cost to you, tracked via the affiliate program’s own cookies or tracking parameters.

10. Compliance Note

We aim to align this policy with general international privacy principles, including standards reflected in India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA) and, where relevant to international readers, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). As The Bodu grows and introduces new features (advertising, cookies, affiliate links), we will expand this policy to ensure continued compliance with applicable regulations in the relevant jurisdictions.
