Nearly 6.5 lakh candidates who appeared for the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (JSSC-CGL) examination remain uncertain about their future as the alleged paper leak case continues to delay recruitment for 2,025 government posts.
The controversy erupted after candidates alleged that the General Knowledge question paper had been leaked before the examination, allowing some aspirants to gain an unfair advantage.
The allegations triggered widespread protests in Ranchi and other parts of Jharkhand, with students demanding cancellation of the examination, a transparent investigation and fair recruitment.
Many aspirants also moved the Jharkhand High Court, seeking an independent probe into the alleged irregularities.
Following the protests, JSSC cancelled the original examination and conducted a re-test. However, fresh allegations of malpractice after the re-exam further intensified the controversy.
The High Court subsequently directed that the examination results should not be declared until the investigation makes substantial progress.
The Jharkhand government has assigned the investigation to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising senior officers to expedite the probe.
Authorities have informed the court that the investigation is ongoing and that no conclusive evidence of an organised paper leak has been established so far.
With recruitment stalled for months, thousands of aspirants continue to stage protests and demand a time-bound investigation, arguing that the prolonged delay is affecting their careers.
The fate of the recruitment process now hinges on the findings of the ongoing probe and the Jharkhand High Court’s subsequent directions.
