Apple has released the public beta of iOS 27, giving users their first opportunity to try the company’s redesigned AI-powered Siri ahead of its wider rollout later this year.
The update marks Apple’s biggest overhaul of Siri since the voice assistant was first introduced, bringing more natural conversations, deeper app integration and advanced on-device intelligence.
The new Siri can understand personal context by searching across emails, messages, photos and files with user permission. It also gains on-screen awareness, allowing it to understand what is displayed on an iPhone and perform actions across multiple apps.
Apple says the assistant is designed to make everyday tasks faster while keeping user data protected through Apple Intelligence.
The public beta is available to users with supported devices enrolled in Apple’s Beta Software Program. Apple cautions that beta software may contain bugs and recommends backing up devices before installation. The stable version of iOS 27 is expected to be released this fall.
Alongside the revamped Siri, iOS 27 introduces AI-powered writing tools, smarter messaging features, improved productivity capabilities and performance enhancements across the iPhone ecosystem. The update reflects Apple’s growing push into generative AI as it competes with rivals including OpenAI, Google and Meta.
