The wait is moving into its final stretch for Yash’s Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups. The much-anticipated trailer is being unveiled today, August 8, giving audiences their most substantial look yet at a film that has spent a long time building expectations around its scale, cast and unusual mix of gangster drama and stylised storytelling.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic places Yash at the centre of a period gangster story and brings together an ensemble that includes Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth. The film has been written by Yash and Mohandas and is being produced by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations.
For Yash, the film represents a particularly important project following the enormous visibility he gained through the KGF franchise. But Toxic is not simply being positioned as another star-driven action film. Mohandas, known for the Malayalam films Moothon and Liar’s Dice, brings a different filmmaking background to the project, creating an interesting contrast between Yash’s mass-market image and a director associated with more character-driven cinema.
The film has also had an unusually long journey to the screen. It was initially announced with an April 2025 release plan before being postponed several times. A March 2026 release was later announced, followed by another postponement, before the makers confirmed August 26, 2026 as the worldwide theatrical release date.
The promotional campaign has already offered audiences several glimpses of the film. The earlier teaser introduced Yash in a darker gangster avatar, while the song “Tabaahi,” featuring Yash and Kiara Advani, provided a different look at the relationship between their characters. The film has been shot in Kannada and English, with dubbed versions planned in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.
That multilingual approach is significant. Yash’s popularity extends well beyond Karnataka following KGF, and the film’s makers are clearly looking to build on that wider audience rather than treating Toxic as a conventional Kannada release.
The trailer now becomes the crucial piece of the puzzle.
t will give audiences a clearer sense of the film’s narrative, characters and tone after months of posters, teasers and songs. More importantly, it arrives just over two weeks before the theatrical release, when curiosity must translate into sustained audience interest.
Whether Toxic ultimately lives up to the considerable expectations surrounding it will be decided in cinemas. For now, however, the trailer marks the point at which the film moves from carefully controlled glimpses to a much fuller introduction and the countdown to August 26 officially enters its final phase.
